Endodontics
Endodontics or root canal treatment is a conservative and painless treatment that aims to preserve a tooth in the mouth that, if not treated, would have to be extracted. It is therefore the last resort to save a diseased tooth and prevent the patient from having to place a prosthesis or implant to replace it.
Endodontics must be used when the nerve of the tooth (pulp) is affected by caries, deep restorations, blows, trauma, fractures, etc. When this happens, the pulp is extracted and it is necessary to clean and fill the space left inside the tooth (root canals), in order to preserve the tooth in the mouth.
This intervention allows maintaining the functionality of the tooth, as well as its esthetics, and is the last resort to save a diseased tooth without the need to extract it.
We always recommend going to the dentist in case of any suspicion, discomfort or symptom of oral disease. A timely visit can be essential to maintain optimal dental health and provides an advantage to prevent the problem from worsening.
